  1. I'm dreading getting the list of charges in the mail, though I know I won't have to pay most of it. I find the large numbers a bit frightening!

We have to pay a percentage, but we knew that was likely to happen when we signed up for the plan with lower premiums at Joe's workplace, so we are prepared for that. We should still come out ahead (financially) this way.

I regret not setting up an HSA, though! The open enrollment period had passed by just a few days when we found out we were expecting.

  2. The other way to have a baby is have no money and no real job. Then the government might take pity on you. After jumping your pregnant self through many hoops and resubmitting your proof of self 4 times they'll say "you have proven you are poor and are hopeless. have a baby on us!" Then you will pay $0 and never even be trusted to see your bill. It is not all free babies and fun, you will have lost countless hours waiting around for your name to be called in a waiting room to see the clinic dr. for 5 mins. Glad your enjoying life and saving money! Love ya!
